Message: Hi, I am a sib of two brothers with Juvenile, Mitchell we lost in Feb. of this year and Micheal who is still holding on, I am 29 almost 30 and have helped to take csre of them, I also have a younger sister who is 16 and unaffected. I think BDRSA should do more for the sibs of affected children, I think we all need an outlet also. I know that the age range of sibs are many, but I think it could help us all. As much as it effects our parents, it also effects us. I was 10 when Mitchell was born and he was like my own living baby doll. I can't begin to describe the hurt of the years we have had to stuggle and can't imagine the road ahead. I don't know how many sibs would be interested, but maybe we could set up some kind of pen pals, or just sending cards to each other around those times of year when it's harder then most. I think Sibs of many ages could benefit from something like this. If anyone would like to talk or thinks they would be interested, please let me know. I have only gotten the chance to attend 1 conference and I think there were only 5=7 of us in our age range for break out session. I don't think other's can understand what we have been through or that you never know when the grief is overwhelming or a memory so sweet, you can't help but laugh and cry all at the same time. I check in about once a month so you can e-mail me. Let me know what you all think.

Message: Jennifer,
You are not forgotten. Sibs are amazing people and have a struggle and pain far different than we parents do. I would recommend you call the main office of BDSRA and talk to either Amy or Lance. They should be able to connect you with Sarah Thompson the leader of the SIBS. Your age group has had significant growth in the last few years. Sarah is close to your age. Please make the contact. We lost Ellen's brother when he was 26. He was here true big brother and there are no words for the pain she has had and always will. I hope you can attend another conference. It will be in St. Louis, MO this year. You are part of the huge family of Battens and there is help and support. You are not forgotten or alone. Take care.
