Subject: Mucous/Phlem Name: Stephanie Anderson Date Posted: Oct 26, 08 - 5:11 PM Email: Click here to Email Message: Every evening for the past week and a half around 6pm my son has been having problems with Mucous or Phlem. I try to 'burp' him thru the g-tube and the phlem is so bad that it clogs the g-tube and he coughs and coughs but it takes a long time to get that phlem thru the g-tube. I have been giving him Mucinex but that doesn't always work. I'm not sure why this happens only in the evening.
Does anyone have any thoughts or medications that might work or work better? Thanks
Stephanie, mom to Thomas (Infantile ) 10 years old.

We tried it to help with his drooling. Stephen coughs every night after he goes to bed. And if he wakes up during the night he'll cough. He coughs occasionally during the day, but nothing like at night. I can only assume it has something to do with positioning, and that the slightest amount of recline just causes any fluid in his chest to come up.
