Message: My son Ricky is 11 years old. I can't get his behavior controlled in order to send him back to school. He is extremely violent and weighs 160 pounds. He is hurting myself and my 2 girls ages 13 and 14. I'm a single full time working mom. What can I do? Home is awful. Please help.

Message: We went thru that with our son Nicholas, he's 15 now. Abilify seems to be working well with him... for now.
Get back with me if you'd like to vent!! I know it has to be hard, being a single Mom.
You're in my prayers!

Message: Dear Marcia,
maybe a call to Nancy Carney may be of some help?
What about Ricky's neurologist? What does he/ she suggest?
I remember your family well from the conference this year.
My daughter Merlin, hung out with your daughters.
I am so sorry you are going through this...............

Message: Hi Marcia! I hope you are seeing some changes in your son by now, but if not, I feel your pain. My son, Nicholas (7) has the same problems with behavior and aggression. Like the others that have replied, Nicholas takes Abilify (anti-psychotic) as well as meds for anxiety and ADHD. This assortment seems to work for the most part, although I have finally given up on the perfect cure for such aggressive behavior.
Another thing we try to do is constantly have something for Nicholas to do. For us, it seems he is most aggressive and abusive when he becomes bored or even over stimulated. This is a bit challenging, but if you can rotate activities and/or toys continuously thru out the day this may help as it has for us, but it does takes a lot of time and planning until you get a system going. Obviously, just a suggestion, but if you're like I am, I will try anything for a moment of sanity.
Good luck, you will get thru this...

Message: Sarah had several years of terrible behavioral issues..I know how stressful it is..hang in there! With Sarah abilify worked for awhile but then seemed to loose effectiveness, The combo she is on now seems to be the most sucessful so far. She takes depakote for seizures (depakote can also act as a mood stabalizer), and also takes Tenex and clorazepate..her behavior, although not perfect (she is still a teenager after all..LOL) has improved a lot. I know every kid is different but I hope this helps
