Subject: Fighting between my heart and head
Name: deborah
Date Posted: Oct 20, 08 - 8:12 PM
Message: Hilliary has pnuemonia(?)and has been fighting it since last week. She sound horrible and is not comfortable.
My head is saying rush her to the ER and let them do what the will but my head is saying that is selfish and as long as I can keep her comfortable just do that(with antibiotics, breathing treatments,O2,and pain meds). We never went throughthis with JJ,he never got to this point.
SHe gets blister all the time for no reason, has trouble urinating and BM,I dont want her to suffer any more. I have told myself I am reday for her to go but the thought of her passing is so hard.
I just want what is best for her and will give her peace.

Message: I'm so sorry to hear how sick Hilliary is. I'm not a medical professional by any means, but perhaps Hilliary could use the hospital for temporary intervention (IV antibiotics, oxygen, etc.) even for just a wee while. I know about the heart and head arguements. follow your gut instinct. its usually right. Please keep your Batten family up to date on Hilliary's condition.

Message: Deb,
My heart breaks for you to be in this position. Only you know your child and only you can make this decision. Each person is different. There will never be a time when you lose Hillary that we be all right. You have already walked that path of hell on earth. My prayer for you is that you are guided by God and your instincts as a mother. There is that issue of quality vs. quantity. I know you to be a mother that would give her right arm for her child, so trust your heart and gut. Meanwhile hold her in your arms and assure her that you are with her every minute of whatever comes. Also let her know you are going to be ok if she does leave. Our children need to know that. You will make the right decision for your family and that is all that matters. They are all children of God and only on loan to us for a short while. Hugs and prayers to you and your family.

Message: Thank you all,
Hilliary does have O2 at home so we are giving her that.
I do believe that quality of live is more important and right now hers is bad.
She now has swelling in her left foot, and right hand and has not wet since yesterday.
I feel the end is near and yes I know GOD will take better care of her than I could ever do.This is the first time we have had to go through this as I said JJ never did.He just passed after having a great day the day before.
I will keep everyone updated.

Message: I really feel for you. It is so hard.
We had to make the decision to take our 9 year old daughter off life support after she was put in a drug induced coma to stop her seizing. We tried for 2 weeks to stop the seizures and bring her out of the coma, but nothing worked. If she hadn't had a terminal disease with no cure on the horizon, we may have gone on trying for longer, but she was getting weaker and sicker every day that she was in the hospital. We decided we loved her enough to let her go......... That was in March.
I miss her every second of every day, but in my heart I know we made the right decision.
I wish you strength for your journey.

Message: Deb,
Just to let you know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Give Hilliary a hug for me. If this is her time, so many wonderful Angels, including JJ are waiting with open arms to receive her. As for you all of us have our arms open to hug you. May God bless you at this very difficult time. Hugs to you. Nancy

Message: Deborah, I hope it's ok for me to the ask this..do you have hospice care for her? When my husband entered the late stages of cancer, They were a God send for us. They allowed him to remain at home , kept him very comfortable, helped alleviate my fears and anxieties, and were a tremendous comfort to all of us. If she rallies and does better, they can always pull back...You guys are in my thoughts and prayers
