I am looking into nutrition and tube feeding. I know that a few friends have used" normal" food as part of tube feeding regime but wondered if any more have found anything that worked well. I found an interesting website lucysrealfood.com/

I agree that "real food" is best, but I'm wondering if it's the only solution to problems with formula. My mother (age 93) is having chronic diarrhea on Jevity canned food, and the home health nurse is pushing for "real food" given in up to six separate bolus feedings per day (in addition to separate free water/flushing administrations). The problem being: I work full-time, manage rental property, and am Mom's SOLE caregiver; the aides I hire to stay with her when I'm gone aren't allowed to do anything via the tube (nor are they qualified). I can't afford to hire credentialed nurses to stay with her all day and do numerous tube feedings, so the pump/bag system works much better for me. Of course Mom's health is of primary importance, but isn't a change of formula, addition of fiber, slowing of the rate of infusion, etc., worth a try before going to something so labor intensive as to cook, blend, and administer real food?
