Hi, Yesterday my 10 year old son went for his physical for school. He has developed scoliosis on his upper left side of his back. Is this a symptom of Batten's disease or is this just a fluke thing? Has anyone had this experience with their child who has Jncl? Thank you very much

My oldest daughter has had a slight curvature on her upper left, found about 5th or 6th grade. She is 16 now, and has Finnish Late Infantile Variant. I am not even sure if my 13 year old has been checked. Both girls have been in wheelchairs since they were ten. Both are left leaners in their chairs, but not sure if that is related or not. It really did not seem to matter to the docs about the scoliosis since they were not inclined to treat it because of the batten disease. It really was not severe enough to warrant concern in their minds.

My 23 year old JNCL son is a left leaner, as well, and has been for some time. It doesn't seem to pose any real additional problems for him.
