I have to say that our journey thus far with equipment has gone smoothly. We have a Kimba stroller, Gait Trainer, bath seat, leg braces, protective helmet, special needs life jacket, double jogging stroller, and special needs car seat. Wow If you add it all up!!!!
However the BEST purchase thus far was only $25!!!! I saw another child at therapy today with "Walking Wings" and the her mom said she got it at Target! I ran right out and picked a pair up. If you have a child with LINCL who was once a mover and a shaker and has lost their balance this is wonderful. It saves your back and gives them the use of there hands!
Does anyone else have anything that they found that made life better for them or their children? Please share!

We had a similar device that the school board made for MP to use at school and they let us bring it home at night. They used the material from an old wet suit and the harness actuall went between her legs and then velcroed around her body to give her more stability. They used it and so did we until she lost more trunk control and needed more support.
I'm glad to hear what kind of wheelchair/strolller your are using. I had posted about wheelchairs before and recommendations, but didn;t get a whole lot of response. I've found another special needs board where I have learned alot about different types of wheelchairs. I didn't want to commit to one yet and have insurance pay until I was sure, so for now we have a Special Tomato EIO Stroller. It feits our needs now, but I do need to look further so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We recently switched from using the Lightning pediatric stroller to the "super chair for kids, by Orion" and absolutely love it! (as much as anyone can love getting their child a wheel chair I suppose) We found that although it looks more like a a traditional wheel chair (only in bright orange) it is actually so much better for Tatyanna's position and helping her keep her core body strength. She is also so much happier being higher up and is more interactive when she is at the same level as everyone else. The stroller type chair was so low and the angle between the seat and chair back kept her slumped over and then straining to look up. We really hesitated about finally moving her into a wheel chair but are really glad that we did as she is so much happier and her posture is so much better. The chair itself is decent (as far as I can tell), comes in a multitude of colours, has excellent range of tilt and can come with a variety of accessories such as head support, trays etc. We've taken all the extras off and just use the basic wheel chair for the moment. It's light enough that I can lift it into the van without help and is extremely user friendly as far as making adjustments etc. go. We did change the seat from a gel cushion to one that is filled with these pyramid shaped air pocket things. The seat can be adjusted by adding or taking out the pockets to help the child sit straighter. We also found that with the gel cushion that we were using temporarily the gel would move away from any bony prominences so that after a long walk, Tatyanna would be sitting on a hard surface and the gel would be "smooshed" over to the edges. The new seat cushion doesn't look as nice as the gel did, but it seems much comfier...and I plan on making some funky covers for it right away.
