Hi, I would like to know if anyone out there has any problems with feeding and bowel problems. My 2 children have both been placed on G-J Tubes after 12 months with just a G. I started having problems with vomiting and our drs decided to place the tube further down as to decrease the incidence of the vomiting. With one child it is working perfectly and she is tolerating her feeds and has no vomiting, my other child has not seemed right since they did the procedure. He still vomits but now it is a greeen bile colour in contrast to the feed he was bringing up before, also his bowel movements are also green and very loose, when before they where the usual colour and consistency. He has not seemed right since having the change over. Just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem and may have suggestions for me. Thanks Jocelyn

I was wondering if the kids are fed bolus or using a pump? We had vomiting problems with bolus and were resolved via feeding pump. Bowel problems for us consisted of constipation, and we use Miralax faithfully every day with success. The greenish color for bm's has been consistant for one child since using formula. We use a formula that has added fiber in it and only have loose bowls if too much Miralax is used. I know that sometimes a constipated child will have very loose bowels around the blockage, and for use this did happen until we were able to get on a regular bm schedule. Good Luck! Georgia

my son mitchell had the g j tube and green bowls too it could be the formula we used the pump to feed him there are like 35 formulas out there so maybe trying a different formula could help some of them have added fiber that might help the bowls just keep working with the dietician or who ever orders your meds does your child eat anything at all by mouth maybe you could get a feeding evaluation just to see what your child might be able to take a few bites of lemon ice is a dementia feeding idea that works for us and if your child could take just even 2 bites a couple times a day it could help with digestive system check with pallative care or the dietician to get the eval they could come to your home and maybe it could help and even with the tube some pleasure eating can still be possible but check with a professional first if they have not been eating at all
